3.2. Quotes

3.2.1. “we define technology as the organization of knowledge for the achievement of practical purposes.” (Emmanuel G. Mesthene, 1970)

3.2.2. “The first and most basic one is a technology is a means to fulfill a human purpose. … As a means, a technology may be a method or process or device… Or it may be complicated… Or it may be material… Or it may be nonmaterial. Whichever it is, it is always a means to carry out a human purpose.” (W. Brian Arthur, 2009)

3.2.3. “technology includes all tools, machines, utensils, weapons, instruments, housing, clothing, communicating and transporting devices and the skills by which we produce and use them.” (Read Bain, 1937)

3.3. My new definition

3.3.1. Technology is using the knowledge we, as humans, have acquired to change how things are done in order to make them simpler and faster and better.

3.3.2. Technology is everywhere from a spoon to a computer.

3.4. Conclusion

3.4.1. Although technology seems simple to describe and understand, it was proven that the exact definition is hard to put into words. We have seen different examples and explanations and it is possible to grasp the meaning after absorbing all the material. Technology isn’t just the gadgets we use nowadays, it is much broader than that, it is in the mundane things as well. Even though it is hard to actually explain it is possible to summarize as the changes that are made in our day to day to make or tasks and lives simpler.

4. What I thought before

4.1. For me technology is everything created by humans as an improvement to the day-to-day things the past generations were used to. When I think about technological things, robots come to mind, such as computers, cellphones and industrial machines.
