1.1.1. Student Activities

1.1.1.1. The students participate within their groups by researching and annotating their assigned information. Then students must work together to answer questions within their work packets. Lastly, the students must collaborate to create a presentation for the entire class to view.

2.1. CA Common Core State Standards Social Science 12.3 Students analyze the influence of the federal government on the American economy 4.Understand the aims and tools of monetary policy and their influence on economic activity (e.g., the Fedetsl Reserve)

2.1.1. Learning Objectives 1) Students understand how fiscal policy influences the American economy and can describe how the Federal Reserve plays a role in the economy. 2) Students will be able to distinguish between expansionary and contractionary fiscal policy. 3) Students will interpret interests rates announced by the federal reserve and predict the influence of these interests rates on the future of economic activities in the United States.

2.1.1.1. Progress monitoring Assessment: Definition Derby Assignment. Students form teams with each other and compete against other groups. The main goals is to correctly answers the largest number of questions related to content specific vocabulary and conceptual thought.

2.1.1.2. Summative Assessment: Individual writing assignment responding to a strategic prompt prepared by the instructor.

2.1.1.3. Formative Assessment: Question strategy. Prepared questions are levied upon student to stimulate their thinking and assess their comprehension throughout the lecture lesson.

3. Fiscal Policy

3.1. California State Standards 12.3 Students analyze the influence of the federal government on the American economy. 2.Identify the factors that may cause the costs of government actions to outweigh the benefits. ​ 3.Describe the aims of government fiscal policies (taxation, borrowing, spending) and their influence on production, employment, and price levels.

3.1.1. Goals and Objectives Students understand fiscal policy and are able to articulate the meaning of this type of government regulation in their own words. Students access and implement prior knowledge about government income and revenue such as Taxes and Subsidies in order to help them better understand the impact of the Federal Budget on Fiscal Policy. Students recognize contemporary controversies over prominent government fiscal policies, and how these situations may affect the economic futures of students’ lives.
