Door Mind Map: DISTANCE EDUCATION (DE) Distance Education is a comprehensive term that often used synchronously with several other terminologies. DE incorporates a two way interaction between and among instructor and student. This pedagogical methodology personalizes the communication of teaching and intentional learning through a variety of educational technology tools conducted by a special institutional organization.

1. Synchronous technologies, collaboratively-generated ideas and feedback are usually very valuable and worth it.

2. The best way to employ these technologies is blending classroom instruction with synchronous online delivery by simultaneous teaching, sustaining the synchronous course with asynchronous Web based resources, interactive tutorials with projects that can be completed or submitted online (Pullen & Snow, 2007, p. 148).

3. Synchronous technologies, includes, blended learning, , distributed learning, open and distance learning, flexible learning, e-learning, e-education, Skype, chat, web-conferencing applications, live streaming audio and video, among other technologies.

4. Synchronous technologies, particularly web-conferencing tools, are useful for brainstorming (McGreal, R., & Elliott, M., 2008, p.151).

5. The main advantages of these technologies is that they enhance instructor and student interaction with responsiveness (Pullen, J., & Snow, C., 2007).

6. TWO WAY COMMUNICATION

7. The Blackboard Collaborate delivers an education-focused collaboration.

8. Synchronous technologies support live interaction between participants, whether student-to-student, student-to-teacher, and/or student-to-organization.

9. Most nations have moved into Internet age and the potential for DE is being realized (Cleveland-Innes and Garrison, 2010, p. 22).
