As I am exploring the countless options that there are for my future, I am beginning to narrow it down to a few things that catch my eye and I can see myself enjoying. In the tests I have taken, it’s become obvious to me that I am deeply motivated by emotional/relational things. This in mind, I have also seen that my biggest interests are in people, not in business or in engineering or in some chemical design. I’ve taken so many tests and received the same kind of results: teacher, counselor, therapist, writer, and teacher, teacher, teacher! This is one job I can truly see myself doing, and so I’ve been exploring the different kinds of teachers and where the best fit for me would be. I’ve become more and more aware of the need there is for Special Education teachers, and that has sparked an interest in me. I also have listed my top five majors (based on what I like, not on what school I’d like to go to) and have tried to keep them limited to majors that would benefit the occupations I have selected. Everything is not tied together yet, but having selected these top five Occupations and Majors will help me as I narrow down my options more and more. Based on what I need to do, learn, and be skilled in for the different occupations, and what is required of them will help me decide what to major in. 6. 1. Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services  -This major would be great to equip me to be in the school system, working with kids on emotional needs. By taking this major I will learn about: legal and professional requirements, therapeutic counselor intervention, vocational counseling, and related sociological and psychological foundations.

7. 2. Counseling Psychology                      -This major is similar to the first one, but is more focused on family, adults, teens, and not just children still in school. By taking this major I would gain a deeper understanding of all the things above, as well as: assessment methods and procedures, group therapy, marital and family therapy, among other things

8. 3. Education, General                              -This major would be a good starting point for obtaining a job within the school system. Through it I would learn: the general theory and practice of learning and teaching, the basic principles of educational psychology, the art of teaching, the planning and administration of educational activities, school safety and health issues, and the social foundations of education.

9. 4. Disability Studies                                  -This major would help grow my knowledge of different physical and mental disabilities. In this major I would learn about: disability rights, legal issues, and public policy; literature, philosophy, and the arts; and/or research in the social sciences, education, and health sciences addressing social and experiential aspects of disability. The ultimate goal I would have in making this my major would be to not stay merely in the school system, but be a part of helping people of all ages who struggle with disabilities.

10. 5. Creative Writing                                  -This major is not necessarily something I'm wanting to use as my only career, but I have always loved writing, and would love the ability to use creative writing as a career. While i know that this is not the most successful and impressive major, I still have it on my list. Things I would benefit from by taking this major: I would get instruction in technical and editorial skills, criticism, and the marketing of finished manuscripts.
