1. Biomes
1.1. Desert
1.2. Forest
1.3. Tundra
1.4. Grassland/Savannah
1.5. wetlands
1.6. Desiduous Forest
1.7. Rain Forest
1.8. Temperate Desiduous Forest
1.9. Coniferous forest
1.10. Freshwater
1.11. Marine
2. Abiotic Factors
2.1. Something that is non-living and never has been living.
3. Organism
3.1. A living object.
3.1.1. Live in a community, and the number of them is known as their population. We are organisms as well as all other living things around us.
4. Food Web
4.1. A series of organisms linked by predator and prey and consumer/resource interactions.
5. Biodiversity
5.1. diversity among plant and animal species, genetics, and ecosystems. (the variety).
5.2. Genetic Biodiversity
5.3. Species Biodiversity
5.4. Ecosystem Biodiversity
6. Ecological Succession
6.1. Ecological sucession is the way in which a ecosystem matures. It could be primary sucessino or secondary sucession. Primary starts from scratch, and secondary is rebuilding.
7. Climax Community
7.1. This is when a community reaches full/ is at it's climax. For example when an empty lot turns into a full forest.
8. Limiting Factors
8.1. Limiting factors are factors that keep a population from reaching it's carrying capacity(when a population is at its kept height).
9. J-curve
9.1. A graph when you have a upward increase that is continuing.
10. S-curve
10.1. A graph that has an upward increase and then lavels off at a point. Many populations level off when they reach carrying capacity.
11. Water Pollution
11.1. Water pollution is everywhere throughout the U.S. from trash, to chemicals and toxins. Many of our waterways are polluted.
12. Watershed
12.1. A watershed is a basin where all the used water from an area goes. for example a lake or a river.
13. Impermiable
13.1. A surface where water cannot be soaked into.
14. Runoff
14.1. Runoff is water that comes off of impermiable surfaces, usually roads where the water drains into sewers.
15. Wetlands
15.1. land that has a wet and spongy soil, as a marsh, swamp, or bog. Absorbs a lot of water.
16. Point source and non point source.
16.1. Point source comes from a specific location and is easy to pinpoint. non point source is from an unknown source and is hard to pinpoint.
17. Trophic Levels
17.1. Producers
17.1.1. Lowest on the trophic pyramid. All energy is from them.
17.2. Primary Consumers
17.2.1. Low on the pyramid. They arent very dominant and they dont eat much.
17.3. Secondary Consumers
17.3.1. In the middle they are usually carnivores and have only few predators.
17.4. Tertiary Consumers
17.4.1. They are the main consumers in the pyramid. They eat a lot and are top on a food chain.
17.5. Decomposers
17.5.1. These are an on the side group they dont do much but decompose. Ex.(a worm)
