Martin Luther King Jr.

1. His birth name was Michael Luther King Jr. but later he had his name changed to Martin.

1.1. Was born and died on January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968. He Died at the age of 39.

2. March 23, 1956: Despite the smiles, Martin Luther King has just been found guilty and sentenced to hard labor for conspiring to boycott segregated buses. On November 13, the U.S. Supreme Court rules bus segregation unconstitutional. "I was proud of my crime," King says. "It was the crime of joining my people in a nonviolent protest against injustice."

7. Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen, he received the B. A. degree in 1948 from Morehouse College

7.1. He became a Baptist minister at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania. Like his father and grandfather.

7.2. While completing his residence for the doctorate in 1953 and receiving the degree in 1955 at Boston he met and married Coretta Scott, a young woman of uncommon intellectual and artistic attainments they had two sons and two daughters.

7.3. When he returned to the South, and from getting his degree he became a pastor of a church in Montgomery, Alabama.

8. In the eleven-year period between 1957 and 1968, King traveled over six million miles and spoke over twenty-five hundred times, appearing wherever there was injustice, protest, and action and mean while he wrote five books as well as numerous articles.
