Improving CGW by Mind Map: Improving CGW

1. What were the really good aspects of CGW#3?

1.1. Social Aspect

1.1.1. Showing what a great social environment would look like

1.2. principle-based approach

1.2.1. asking principle-based questions raises awareness, gives new perspectives and insights

1.2.2. moving towards alignment with positive principles (= highest values) always yields positive results

1.3. raising awareness

1.3.1. through looking for patterns and recognizing them

1.3.1.1. day 1, first exercise

1.3.2. some really good, insightful stories from Steve

1.3.2.1. predictability & security VS unexpected results, the unknown etc -- the former stunt, the latter foster growth

1.3.3. being in a room with positive, purpose-, goal-oriented people inspires higher awareness of what's actually attainable

1.4. master-servant perspective

1.4.1. as a tool for how to effectively plan for & make changes / take action

1.4.2. helps understanding better why we often don't follow through on our decisions

1.5. seagull-jackhammer-exercise

1.5.1. the lesson from this could be expanded as it's a really important one -- as often as possibly become aware of what your goal is vs what you're focusing on and make sure you go from that to holding in your mind an image of the perfect desired outcome

1.5.1.1. how to do that?

1.5.1.1.1. remind people of that throughout the workshop: "what is your purpose / goal / desire here? what is the thing you've been focusing on / you're focusing on right now as you form this new desire? make sure you choose consciously!"

1.6. other exercises / tools / methods

1.6.1. "What would be (even) (a little) better than this?" - for clarifying / "tweaking" desires, getting people to start using their imagination to come up with their own ideas for their lives

1.6.1.1. we all know how hard it often is to figure out what the heck one wants, and also and especially for lots of the CGW participants this is a big issue. And this process is very effective in solving that challenge.

1.6.2. outgoaling - project enough confidence and others will give in & follow

1.6.2.1. could this be turned into an exercise? ;)

1.6.3. baby steps VS immersive approach

1.6.3.1. could this be turned into an exericse? But maybe not too many people find this as inspiring as me... ?

2. Critical Questions - not meant as criticism, but rather to inspire ideas for improvement / doing things differently

2.1. Is the definition of "Love" that's being used really sufficient?

2.2. Is it sufficient to not look at the volatility of beliefs at all? Steve's talking a lot about changing beliefs, but in the workshop this aspect is not even mentioned. Is that the right way to go?

2.2.1. How could one introduce the topic of "changing beliefs" in a fun way that is aligned with the goals of the workshop?

2.3. Is it beneficial to not assign the "Heart" aspect (passion / excitement / joy / ...) a special place? Can this actually lead to a great life? Isn't there a reason why everyone is looking for their passion, their purpose and shouldn't that be respected?

2.4. Wouldn't it be beneficial if there was more emphasis on imagining the ideal life, the ideal self? There is this "vision" exercise associated with "Intelligence", but there's really not enough time and not enough creative space in order for creative imagination to really kick in and bring up something from the inside that resonates strongly.

2.5. For the workshop to be considered a success, is a focus on results really effective? Isn't it also a lot about the (social) experience, i.e. how people feel during the workshop, how much fun they have with each other, how many new friends they make that they'll later keep in touch with?

2.5.1. (Just want to emphasize that the social aspect seems to be a strong motivator for people to sign up for the CGW and then to come back a 2nd and 3rd time. Which is important to look at from the business perspective, i.e. to consider making that a very explicitly advertised and implemented aspect of the experience.)

2.6. Isn't there a disconnect between the TPL model and the Body-Mind-Heart-Spirit (BMHS) model? The latter is introduced, but not used consistently, nor is it explained how they actually work together. How can this be improved? Or should the BMSH model be left out completely?

2.6.1. (I think it DOES make sense to use both of them, it just has to be clearer how the BMSH model relates to the other one and when and how to use it.)

2.7. Isn't there too little difference between the Power exercise / questions and the Intelligence-based ones? Desires vs vision?

2.7.1. How about moving the vision to the Power principle and making the Intelligence principle all about looking at all the results from working with the previous principles from new, different, "sanity-check"-like perspectives to verify that those results are all in alignment with the principles and each other?

3. The Goals of the CGW

3.1. help gain clarity about where people are right now?

3.2. help gain clarity about where people want to go / goals / desires?

3.3. show what an effective social environment looks like?

3.4. establish deeper connections between individual members of the "CGW community"?

3.5. ignite the creation of a social support network that lasts until way after the workshop itself?

3.6. teach effective tools for personal growth & personal change?

3.7. raise the vibration?

3.8. increase alignment with basic principles of personal growth and successful life? (TLP principles)

3.9. enable personal breakthroughs?

3.10. provide a manual for an improved life?

3.11. enable taking control of results in life?

3.12. help getting unstuck?

3.13. improve life across all areas?

3.13.1. is this really that important to people? Don't we most of the time care about just 1 or 2 life areas? It seems to be the case for everyone I've talked to so far. It's very desirable though if all life aspects improve if one works on a single area consciously, by aligning with principles etc.

4. Ideas & Suggestions

4.1. trying out possible changes to the CGW in a less risky fashion like this...

4.1.1. life coaches like me could take some of the new stuff, try it out in coaching sessions, go through a few refinement iterations, bring back feedback

4.1.2. holding (focused) mini-serminars / -workshops with pretty much only the elements that need testing

4.1.2.1. needn't be just Steve who does that

4.2. Make days 2 and 3 more fun, engaging, awareness-generating, effective like this...

4.2.1. more like day 1

4.2.1.1. more methods and tools

4.2.1.2. or more of those that are already part of the materials anyway, but go through them explicitly or in more depth

4.2.1.3. more interaction

4.2.1.4. building more connections between participants

4.2.1.5. stories, exercises on stage, group exercises, humorous parts

4.2.1.6. keep things coming that raise awareness, challenge old thinking patterns... without that new insights are hardly possible

4.2.2. instead of going through all life areas, how about if everyone selects just one or two for themselves

4.2.2.1. everyone goes through the principle-based exercises together, but with a different life area as focus

4.2.2.2. sharing insights etc would still work very nicely

4.2.2.2.1. if people get ideas from others' sharing they are encouraged to write those down as they come

4.2.2.3. everyone can go through the rest of their life areas by themselves, after having done it in a guided fashion for the most important one or two

4.2.2.3.1. that's something many people mentioned... much of those writing exercises can be done alone at home and could also be just homework from day 2 to day 3 or split between after day 1 and day 2

4.2.3. exercises engaging the creative mind ("right brain") and the whole body if possible have to be there throughout the days, otherwise people get stuck in their left brains and heads in general

4.3. Look at the principle of "Power" before looking at "Love" - how should one properly know what to connect with / disconnect from before knowing what exactly one wants?
