1. Outline

1.1. Linear Motion

1.1.1. Learned how to Diagram motion with dots and arrows to show away, towards, speeding up, slowing down, and everything in betwee.

1.1.2. Learned differences between Position-Displacement, Speed-Velocity, Time-Velocity

1.2. Non-linear Motion

1.2.1. This was the motion we calculated in the water balloon project, to find when we needed to fire to hit the moving target, taking into account the arch of the balloon.

1.3. Forces and Momentum

1.3.1. Calculated Momentum of the tasty projectile using Logger Pro.

1.3.2. Force - causes Acceleration

1.3.3. Momentum - Mass x Velocity

1.4. Work, Energy Storage and Transfer

1.4.1. I learned how pulling back the launcher gave us potential energy, which was transferred to kinetic energy when released.

1.4.2. Energy is never created or destroyed, it is always transferred from one form to another

1.4.3. We learned about Gravitational, Kinetic, and Elastic Energy.

1.5. Properties of Matter

2. Competencies

2.1. Effectively communicate qualitative and quantitative information orally and in writing.

2.1.1. We have shared Videos with each to show that everything is related to physics, from rock-climbing/dancing to the Snipers Bullet.

2.2. Explain the application of fundamental physical principles to various physical phenomena.

2.2.1. Also done with Neat Videos, to show all types of different activites, and relate them to physics.

2.3. Apply appropriate problem-solving techniques to practical and meaningful problems using graphical, mathematical, and written modeling tools.

2.3.1. This was done repeatedly with the cop & Perp problem, the Marshmallow Launchers, the theoretical Waterballoon launcher, etc.

2.4. Work effectively in collaborative groups.

2.4.1. This was done very effectively, whcih I was very surprised with. I guess it IS possible to work with people that you never meet in person!
