1. The Indo European languages are a family of related languages that today are widely spoken in the Americas, Europe, and also Western and Southern Asia

2. Since the speakers of the Proto Indo European language did not develop a writing system, we have no physical evidence of it

3. The Indo European Languages divide into four main gruops

3.1. Italic

3.1.1. Italian, Spanish, Romanian, French, Portuguese.

3.2. Celtic

3.2.1. Irish, Gaelic, Scottish, Welsh.

3.3. Germanic

3.3.1. The Germanic is divided into three sub branches:

3.3.1.1. East Germanic, currently extinct

3.3.1.2. North Germanic, containing Old Norse, the ancestor of all modern Scandinavian languages

3.3.1.3. West Germanic, containing Old English, Old Saxon, and Old High German

3.3.1.3.1. Dutch, English, Frisian, and Yiddish are some examples of modern survivors of the West Germanic sub branch.

3.4. Slavic

3.4.1. Russian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian, Croatian.
