8. Beyond Change Management

8.1. A Call for Conscious Change Leaders

8.1.1. In order to achieve breakthrough results from change, there are 3 areas to focus on

8.1.1.1. Content

8.1.1.2. People

8.1.1.3. Process

8.1.2. Organizations have to look at all drivers of change. Most important ones are culture, behavior, and mindset

8.1.3. Leaders need to achieve transformational change. In order to achieve that, the following are essential. These are the ones I have to improve on by looking at my past leadership experience.

8.1.3.1. Looking at error and improving.

8.1.3.2. Healing the past

8.1.3.3. Communication

8.1.3.4. Active listening

8.1.3.5. Trust

8.1.4. Many times we are in autopilot. We do things without being aware and not thinking about things. I realize I do this often.

8.1.4.1. To improve, I plan on writing and planning things ahead of time. I do not want to go through motions without thinking about it. I also believe reflecting after will help.

8.1.4.2. Wake up calls are also important, but it vital to wake up to calls before it is too late.

8.1.4.2.1. My example for this is my brother. He kept getting the call that being overweight is not good from my parents. Step 2 was when he and I would go for runs he could not keep up. The 3rd was the military recruiter telling him that he needs to lose weight in order to be considered for recruitment. That was his wake up call to change for the better. Now he eats healthy and maintains a very active life.

8.1.5. Another things leaders need to consider is having a plan (agenda) to achieve this.

8.1.5.1. This increases the speed and decreases the cost of change.

8.1.5.1.1. My action for this is to plan ahead/ make goals before the semester starts on what I want to achieve.

8.2. People Dynamics

8.2.1. Ego

8.2.1.1. This is the biggest thing that gets in our way of truly being ourselves. I can relate to this.

8.2.1.1.1. We use our fear to protect us.

8.2.1.1.2. This results in extreme dedication.

8.2.1.1.3. Ego looks at our external reasons why things are not going well.

8.2.1.2. To help avoid ego getting in our way, we have to look at our being (self of pure awareness).

8.2.2. Mindset

8.2.2.1. I relate this word to walking the talk. It is looking at if I act how I say I act. I need to attend and manage my self then others.

8.2.3. Culture

8.2.3.1. There are numerous things that influence culture. It is vital to have a culture that is constructive. This relates to:

8.2.3.1.1. Achievement

8.2.3.1.2. Self-Actualizing
