Brainstorming and planning can often lead to some remarkable results. But who says you want to share these plans with the world? We take your privacy and online security very seriously. Therefore, we’ve taken a number of steps to ensure that your data (projects, attachments, user date, et. al) is completely secure when using MindMeister.
MindMeister houses its servers at a Tier III (The TIA-942:Data Center Standards Overview) certified data center in Germany (Tenovis Databurg in Frankfurt). We provide 99.9% service uptime for our paid accounts.
All paid MindMeister accounts receive a 256-bit Secured Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted data transfer between the end user and MindMeister. Private mind maps cannot be accessed by other people, nor indexed by search engines or robots, regardless of your account level.
All of our systems are protected by multiple firewalls and special access control on the network level.
When you create projects on MindMeister, they're private by default. You can make them public or share them if you choose. The MindMeister mind map receives permissions assigned in the database. Likewise, any file you attach to a map inherits the same rights as the corresponding map. You can share projects with other people or even the entire internet. You may revoke permissions or revert your project to private at any time.
You may restrict invitations, allowing only members of your licensed team or users from a specified email domain access to your project(s).
Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of protection to your account. Whenever you sign in to the MindMeister website, you'll need to enter both your password and also a security code from an app on your mobile phone.
This second layer of security ensures that a user’s account stays secure even if their password falls into the wrong hands.
MindMeister deploys widely-used and secure password and login techniques to validate access to our service. MindMeister offers broadly based permissions options. The application determines access privileges and displays only maps the user has permission to see. For further security, a user can set permissions so that some users may view specified maps but not edit them. Public maps are maps that can be viewed by anyone on the internet, may be additionally secured with a password. Access to mind maps is restricted on the code level by a security mechanism that ensures that at all times access is protected and rights are only granted to trusted users.
We backup your data on daily, weekly and bi-weekly rotations at multiple off site locations to safeguard against an unforeseeable catastrophe.
Users of our Business can regularly backup all mind maps to your company SSH FTP server. You have total control over data uploaded to your own secure servers.
All actions on mind maps are recorded in the map history and can be replayed in the history view. Thanks to this feature, a complete audit trail is created, allowing users to pinpoint who did what and when on any given mind map.
