1. The motives and actions of the person during the time and why they were such an important person to the church
1.1. While still a small girl, about 7, Catherine was touched by the extraordinary movement of the Holy Spirit in her community and saw a vision of Jesus with Peter, Paul, and John the evangelist.
1.2. Catherine was not satisfied living a contemplative life; she wanted to help the poor and sick.
1.3. She did not want to be an ordinary nun. Catherine began an active ministry to the poor, the sick, and the imprisoned of Siena.
1.4. Saint Catherine of Siena, was a tertiary of the Dominican Order and a Scholastic philosopher and theologian who had a great influence on the Catholic Church, and is declared a saint and a doctor of the Church.
1.5. Her major treatise is The Dialogue of Divine Providence. This was probably begun in October 1377, and was certainly finished by November 1378.

2.1. Saint Catherine of Siena achieved one major article and this is The Dialogue of Divine Providence. This was most likely started in October of 1377, and would have definitely completed by November of 1378. It is a dialogue between a soul who "rises up" to God and God himself.

3.1. Something changed her when she was 21. She described an experience she referred to as her "mystical marriage to Christ."
3.2. Saint Catherine was born in Siena on March 25th of 1347.
3.3. She was the 25th child although half of her siblings past throughout early childhood.
3.4. Catherine was a twin when born but her sister did not survive much of her childhood.
3.5. Her mother was 40 when she gave birth to her and her father dyed cloths as a living.
3.6. St. Catherine developed a habit of giving things away and she continually gave away her family's food and clothing to people in need. She never asked permission to give these things away, and she quietly put up with their criticisms.

3.9. She also worked to bring the papacy of Gregory XI back to Rome from its displacement in France and to establish peace among the Italian city-states.
