My Network
by Jordan Kemper
1. My neighbour Ruth who is 80 has lived in Kelowna for a long time and her grandkids have orchards so I could possibly get a summer job picking fruit!
2. My aunt works at a dental office and could teach me about the path it took to get there and connect me with people who are in that field.
3. My dad has his own landscaping business and I work for him some days over the summer.
4. My boss Omar knows so many people in Kelowna and has great relations with other small buisnesses since he sources their products for our ice cream. He could give me a good reference to them.
5. We live really close to a local grocery store and always talk to the staff members there since we go so often, one in particular is named Lisa, I could possibly work there.
6. My neighbour Ruthie is an entrepreneur and her and her husband were on Dragon's Den and got a deal! I could talk to her about running her own business
7. The veterinarian that we take my cat to, Dr. Ganton, would be a good person to talk to because I love animals and helping them.
8. A physiotherapist could be a possible job shadow that I would be interested in.
9. I am really interested in human kinetics and health sciences and my chiropractor Dr. Mir could tell me about the path to becoming a chiropractor.
10. My neighbours Kevin and Lynsey are going to get me to babysit their two kids one day a week. They could connect me with their friends with younger kids for other babysitting jobs.
11. My mom works at the hospital and could connect me to people at the coffee shop there or the candy striper coordinator.
12. My basketball coach from UBCO Bobby has lots of connections at the university and also in the community.
13. My bus driver Peter used to work with the RCMP and would have information and connections to that field.
14. A dietitian would be an interesting job shadow because I am really interested in nutrition.
15. A nurse would be a good person to talk to about the medical field/ the path to their position.
