Whaling. Should it stop? Or should it have been stopped long ago??

1.1. Greenpeace is an organization that protests against the actions that are happening to the environment and the way it is effecting the way life will be when the whales are gone or there is too much oil in the gulf of mexico.

3. Facts.
3.1. Whale oil is scarcely used today, so modern commercial whaling is mainly the hunting of whales for food, as well as for scientific research purposes
3.2. Whaling began in prehistoric times dating back to about 6 000 BC.
3.3. 60% of Japan's kills die instantly
3.4. In the 1860's, Svend Foyn of Norway invented the exploding harpoon by tipping the traditional harpoon guns with bombs that would explode inside the whale, killing it faster (if used correctly).
3.5. Hand harpooning of whales in the seas of Japan was practiced as early as the 12th century. Whalers would spear and hook an animal, using a whale-line to keep their boat attached to their catch. They would then wait until the whale tired before using a fatal head lance.

4.1. in my opinion whaling should be stopped because otherwise our children's children's will not be able to see the famous giant blue whale or the agressive killer or orca whales.
