1. ***Migration*** What causes migration and how has it impacted America?

1.1. world war 2: America didn't know the extent of the holocaust and refused many Jews entrance to the country and Hitler was able to keep and kill

2. ***Economics:*** How has economics impacted America & Americans?

2.1. People started taking out to much credit in the 1920's

2.2. Great Depression

2.2.1. 1920's farmers: When they over farmered the land the supply is to high and prices go down

2.2.2. People should not buy stocks on credit because if the stocks go down in price, they will stop paying the loan and banks will fail. when banks fail people lose their savings

2.3. CIVIL RIGHT PROTEST: when a group of people stop using a service, the service could go out of business

3. ***Leaders & Presidents*** What makes an effective or ineffective leader?

3.1. World War 2: leaders like Hitler who are willing to fight until the end can be challenging to defeat

3.2. JFK quietly attacked Cuba but failed as everything unraveled and the news found out it was America trying to fight Cuba. This was JFK's lowest point in presidency

3.3. MLK AND MALCOLM: they were both big civil rights leaders that got assassinated because they wanted everyone to be equal. Just because you kill the person doesn't mean you kill the idea

4. ***Foreign Relations*** How have foreign entanglements influence America?

4.1. WW!: Forming allies can draw the country into a broader conflict

4.2. WW1:When the US is involved in world affairs to a large extent, it is hard to be neutral if a major conflict breaks out

4.3. The US needs to compromise on foreign affairs to get results.

4.4. Vietnam

4.4.1. The Vietnam war the US was fighting for communism while the Vietnam was fighting for there freedom. After awhile he president himself didn't know why he was at war with Vietnam. The soldiers didn't even know why they were fighting. The lesson learned from this problem is that we shouldn't go to war if you or anybody else has to question why we're going to war.

5. ***Civil Rights:*** To what extent have the oppressed in America been able to attain an equality of life?

5.1. Freedom riders and walk ins fueled the movement of civil rights to all. Nonviolence got attention for cause.

5.2. The black panthers would follow police around and when they would make an arrest on African Americans they would read them their rights. Aggressive tactics against the government can fail.

5.3. Vietnam

5.3.1. As soon as the soldiers got home they were all bashed. People who needed rides had to wait hours for family to pick them up cause taxis wouldn't. The lesson learned is that the soldiers we're not to blame for this war.

6. ***Technology*** How does technology impact society?

6.1. When there are new advancements in technology there will be effects on warfare

6.2. World War 2: new powerful weapons can quickly end war when one side has them

6.3. 1960 DEBATE: TV has changed the type of candidate that is running for president.

6.4. Vietnam

6.4.1. During the war the US showered Vietnam with bombs. a lot of the time They used nuclear bombs. From this we learned how strong and powerful nuclear bombs can be.

7. ***Media*** To what extent does the media influence people? To what extent does the media mirror or reflect society?

7.1. Black people got beat up on purpose to get on Tv and improve public opinion

8. ***Government:*** What is the role and responsibility of the American government?

8.1. when governments try to make things illegal it creates violence

8.2. New Deal:

8.2.1. When the economy was doing poorly the government steps in and tries to fix the economy and is very expensive and will increase debt

8.3. World War 2

8.3.1. Since Hitler was in power and kept oushing limits with persecution and no one stopped him he was able to continue what he was doing and kill that many people

8.4. Great Society: When the government creates large wealth fair programs and decreases taxes the government debt increases
