5. The USA entered World War I (April 6, 1917) against Germany.
5.1. Germany revived unrestricted submarine warfare, which resulted in the sinking of American ships
5.2. The Zimmerman Telegram, in which Germany petitioned Mexico to join against the US.
6. WW II
6.1. The USA only joins the war after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941
6.1.1. Why? America organized an oil embargo.
6.2. The USA dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
6.2.1. This took place on August 6 and August 9, 1945
6.2.2. Japan formally surrenders, ending World War II in September 2, 1945.
