Alison--This might also bewhere the library\'s involvement with the big annual 4th of July parade would be showcased, both events leading up to the parade and the parade itself...the parade might also be documented in the library newsletter (versus having a dedicated webpage)

Alison--OK. Simple label. Just to document, there will be constantly updated content with a thumbnail image, a sentence or two of text, describing and linking to relevant pages for featured Events, Classes, New Items, New Policies, etc. Also note that the Library Newsletter is featured here but lives elsewhere as per LInda\'s comment: The Library Newsletter probably does make sense for the gallery but I would also suggest that it live in function or footer links. Make it easy to get to from every page. So this actually fits what\'s above. News and Features is main page content and then linked to a section depending on what that content is. That makes sense. I have it right?

Linda--On the IA you can have a link that is simply labeled something like Weekly Content or something that doesn\'t specify what the content/section is but that it\'s changing. Does that make sense? It\'s complicated isn\'t it?

From Alison: So, I\'m finding this a bit difficult to explain in a schematic diagram but I hope this does describe the structure of the News and Features gallery. We need to see exactly how it is done. My impression is that specific new content is loaded up, either custom written for the gallery or pulled from somewhere else, then linked to the relevant page within the website...

Linda--For the IA try to focus on the structure and not the look and feel of the pages. I think the idea below could be good and it\'s fine to keep it in mind. For the News and Events the link on the main page will lead to what? That\'s the focus.

Jessica suggested a changing gallery in the middle of the homepage which would fit requirements for updates about database changes, new material, holiday closings/hours, featured events etc. San Jose has this in their News & Events \"tile\". Also see the Cecil County homepage for a tabbed approach to this...look for the blue DISCOVER box...it is good in that it has a common sense calendar organization...it is bad in that it doesn\'t automatically put info about library closings front and center...the Hamden public library approach, tho static, is a safer bet: http://www.hamdenlibrary.org/
