1. Apartment involvement

1.1. Have a computer system connected amongst all student housing apartments in Corvallis that tracks daily trash production for each apartment complex

Plan filed trip days hosted by the apartment complex for students to come learn about where their trash goes which could be a trip to the coffin butte corvallis landfill, and then afterwards there will be free food from a food catering service or even dessert like crumble cookies free for all students that join the field trip.

1.3. create a social media challenge amongst students where they can share how they reduce trash by tagging the name of the apartment on instagram and then the people in charge of the apartment can randomly select three winners and the winners can win get free boba drink from bobahead.

2. Student involvement

2.1. joining a sustainability club to promote trash reduction on campus through the means of having weekly activities students can join to learn about sustainability

2.1.1. weekly activities can be created through anything relevant towards students such as making a trash reduction game based off of the recent popular show called "squid game."

2.2. Robotics and engineering students on campus can help develop a system that helps shrink trash into a smaller size so that way it promotes trash reduction to help the city, and the winning team can get compensated in the form of a scholarship.

2.3. students can work together to develop a non-profit business that tackles trash reduction in the city of corvallis which would involve a means of both education and volunteer opportunities to bring community together through social media.

2.3.1. engages students both in college and younger to participate in trash reduction in creative ways

3. Environmental impact

3.1. Promoting trash reduction both on campus at OSU and also with student housing would promote a social movement through the help of social media to engage in larger projects which would pave the ways for creating a larger environmental impact.

3.2. A reduction in trash means landfills would be able to reduce expansion which would leave more available space of land and more greenery

3.3. OSU can plan beach cleanups which can also be a fun field trip for students and this can encourage other universities to do their own beach cleanups

4. Social impact

4.1. A cleaner city means more fresh air to breath.

4.2. students will be the main driving change in the city of corvallis which will help the OSU population take action to develop mainstream ways of solving trash reduction such as using social media to create challenges to win prizes.

5. Community Education

5.1. Apartment complexes that are for student housing to breakdown ways to reduce trash and reuse packaged materials

5.1.1. student engagement by creating events to win prizes like a reusable shopping bag

5.2. teaching how to reuse plastic forks and spoons after using them and even reusing plastic containers for food storage

6. City Involvement

6.1. creating city policies that focus on reducing trash

6.1.1. creating a policy that helps make the switch to compostable packaged material for all food businesses that give food to-go or delivery

6.1.2. having a policy in place that helps switch over to using recycled plastics especially targeted towards many packaged food products

6.1.2.1. challenge: All packaged food is purchased from larger companies in grocery stores that are beyond control from the city, so therefore our main target focuses on food stores that sell directly to consumer such as your local pizza store.

6.2. creating volunteer opportunities to participate in community trash pick-up days (especially after a football game). With a reward such as free food from jimmy johns or catering Mexican food such as burritos and quesadillas to everyone that comes.

7. economic impact

7.1. small businesses will have stronger branding when following through more sustainable practices that promote trash reduction or making packaging compostable for many food based businesses

7.2. the city will get more profit as a result of driving sustainable business traffic and this will also be beneficial in the long run as more students will see that as an incentive to come to corvallis and would encourage students to join OSU
