3.1.1.1. Chapter 8 focuses on reading comprehension. I really enjoyed this chapter as I feel that comprehension strategies really benefit students in becoming successful readers. I like the different strategies that Gunning outlines such as critical reading, activivating prior knowledge and re-reading.

3.1.2.1. Chapter 9 focuses on text structures and teaching procedures. I like how the chapter outlined the different forms of word analysis such as patterning or using morphological roots.

3.1.3.1. Chapter 10 focused on reading and writing content areas and study skills. I really liked how Gunning outlined different techniques to meet improve reading skills through all the different parts of reading.

3.2.1.1. Chapter 10 focused on Non-Fictional Writing. I thought this chapter was really important as it outlined many different factors for successfully teaching Non-Fiction Writing. Until reading this chapter I did not consider the importance of introducing non-fiction writing as low stakes.

3.2.2.1. Chapter 11 discussed writing argumentive works. I really liked how this chapter explained the difference between an arguement and propoganda. I also liked the breakdown of the three types of arguement. I felt this chapter was very benefitial in helping me consider how to teach argumentive writing.
