1. Glycolysis
1.1. happens in the cytoplasm
1.2. starts off with 6 carbon sugars
1.2.1. plus NAD+ (energy to snap the carbon in half)
1.2.1.1. equals 2ATP + 2 pyruvic acid
1.3. Anaerobic Respiration (Fermentation)
1.3.1. 2 pyruvic acid + NADH
1.3.1.1. equals lactic acid/alcohol + NADH+/NAD+ + 2ATP
1.3.2. happens in the cytoplasm
1.4. Aerobic Respiration (with oxygen)
1.4.1. 3 steps
1.4.1.1. pyruvic acid turns into Acetyl CoA
1.4.1.1.1. occurs in mitochondria (inter membrane)
1.4.1.2. krebs cycle
1.4.1.2.1. happens in matrix
1.4.1.2.2. makes 4 CO2 (carbon dioxide) per glucose that is released
1.4.1.2.3. makes 6NADH and 6 2FADH2 that will be used in ETC
1.4.1.2.4. makes 2ATP
1.4.1.3. electron transport chain (ETC)
1.4.1.3.1. occurs in the inner membrane
