1. 1945:

1.1. 10/10- Kya's birth

2. 1952:

2.1. Kya's Ma leaves her family

2.2. Jodie leaves Kya with her abusive father

2.3. Kya went to school; quit 1st day

2.4. Kya met Tate while lost in the marsh

2.5. Kya goes boating with Pa

3. 1953:

3.1. First time Kya went to the diner

3.2. Kya and Pa receive a letter from Ma

4. 1956:

4.1. Pa leaves Kya and never comes back

4.2. Kya watches Chase and his friends play

4.3. Kya begins living by herself, selling mussels

4.4. 3 years later, Kya sees Tate

4.5. Kya meets Mabel and Mabel donates food and clothes to Kya as she's living alone

5. 1960:

5.1. A boy (Tate) leaves feathers for Kya at a stump

5.2. Kya meets and talks to Tate at the stump for the first time

5.3. Kya cuts her hair

5.4. Tate begins teaching Kya how to read and she reads the bible only to find her family's names and birthdays

5.5. Kya "becomes a woman"

5.6. Tate and Kya kiss and began dating

5.7. 10/10- Tate celebrates Kya’s birthday

6. 1961

6.1. 7/4- Kya waits for Tate but he doesn’t meet her as he promised

6.2. 7/19- Tate returns to the marsh to see Kya, but couldn’t approach her

6.3. Kya becomes insanely depressed due to Tate not returning and doesn't leave the house for a month

7. 1965:

7.1. Kya and Chase talk for the first time

7.2. Chase and Kya go on a date

7.3. Chase takes Kya to the fire tower

7.4. Kya gives Chase a shell necklace

7.5. Kya and Chase get to know each other

8. 1966:

8.1. Chase talks to Kya about marrying her

8.2. Chase and Kya go to Asheville

8.3. Tate talks to Kya for the first time in years

8.4. Tate offers to get her work published as a guidebook

8.5. Ma dies

9. 1967:

9.1. Kya meets Chase’s friends

9.2. Kya finds out Chase has been engaged

9.3. Kya goes boating during harsh water and weather conditions

9.4. Kya decides to she will live isolated and alone after her heartbreak from Chase

10. 1968:

10.1. Kya’s book is published and she receives money from it

10.2. Kya buys her family's old land and renovates her house

10.3. Kya sees Tate again to give him her book

10.4. Jodie comes back to the marsh to reunite with Kya

11. 1969:

11.1. Tate gives Kya a compass

11.2. Chase harrasses Kya in Cypress Cove

11.3. 10/28- Kya leaves to Greenville to meet her publisher

11.4. Kya murders Chase Andrews

11.5. 10/30- Chase Andrews found dead

11.6. Kya gets arrested for the murder of Chase Andrews

12. 1970:

12.1. Kya goes to court for trial on Chase’s murder (could possibly the receive the death penalty)

12.2. Kya trial ends and is convicted as innocent (not guilty)

12.3. Kya goes home

12.4. Tate’s father dies

12.5. Tate gets back together with Kya and he moves in

12.6. Jumpin’ dies

13. 2009:

13.1. Kya dies at age 64
