MindMeister (www.mindmeister.com) is the tool we\'re using now. It appears to be a fairly easy to use mind mapping tool. It\'s not the one I typically use, but it had the right affordances (namely, an embedable link that updates in realtime) for this activity.

Affordances:

Relatively simple to learn/use compared to other concept & mind mapping tools.
Collaborative -it\'s a cloud-based tool that allows multiple editors
It\'s embedable, which is why I was able to make it appear in D2L. Plus, the embed link updates automatically, so changes you make automatically appear in D2L.

Constraints:

Although easy to use compared to other mindmapping tools, it still requires some learning to use. The ideal technology for this activity would be nearly transparent (i.e., you hardly notice the technology)
Although reasonably priced, it\'s not free.
