1. Allows it to check the type of hard disk installed, the amount of RAM installed, the type of CPU being used etc.
2. Retains power even without power
3. 'Read Only' - Cannot be changed
4. Non volatile memory - Data is stored permanently
5. Read Only Memory
6. Kind of memory which the computer uses when it 'boots up'.
7. ROM chip is attached to Motherboard
