Six attributes of Social Constructivism

1. Reflective: Talking about and reflecting on new information is an important part of the learning process.

2. Evolving: Take into account the students' current perspectives and build from there.

3. Inquiry-based: Use inquiry and investigative methods to understand concepts. For example, experiments or research projects.

4. Active: The teacher should be seen as a coach/mentor that aids in the learning process, but ultimately it is the student who has the active role in building knowledge.

5. Constructed: Students bring their own prior knowledge and understanding to the classroom.

6. Collaborative: Students should work together to share ideas, as each students own beliefs are important and this will help to build knowledge. Example: Think, pair, share activities.
