1. Interim/Benchmark

1.1. These assessments are given to track achievement or growth over a span of time for each student. These are administered throughout the school year.

2.1. This is an assessment that requires the students to preform a task to check for understanding. The student can apply what they know to a real life situation.

3. Diagnostic

3.1. This is a pre-assessment that teachers can do get a better understanding of what their students know. This can help them adjust instruction or see where their students are academically.

3.1.1. Examples: Survey, KWL chart

4. Formative

4.1. This is an assessment done throughout the lessons by the teacher. This is usually lower stakes, and it helps the teachers adjust or plan instruction. This is done daily.

4.1.1. Examples: Pop Quiz, Exit Tickets

5. Summative

5.1. This is an assessment at the end of a unit. It is usually high stakes and it is worth a high point value.
