1. Read aloud

1.1. Teacher reads any kind of material based on kids interests.

1.2. Kids could seat anywhere where they feel comfortable but close enouph to the teacher.

1.3. Students could use notes to track main ideas.

1.5. Teacher connects story to other fields when applicable.

1.6. Teacher uses gestures, sounds,videos and images to target all kind of students

2. Independant reading

2.1. Teacher applies gradual release of responsibility limiting his role to a simple control of the understanding.

2.2. The students pick reading material of their interest that they could have found anywhere.

2.3. Kids are sitting at their desk or carpet.

2.4. Students are allowed to communicate, feel comfortable and relaxed.

2.5. Students can use dictionaries

3. Shared reading

3.1. Teacher picks a subject that the students like, based on any support technology,book, DVD etc..

3.2. Teacher opens a debate and discussion upon the reading and topic in order to motivate the kid on a better understanding

3.3. The kids sit at their desk or carpet and have to feel comfortable.

3.4. The teacher brings himself to the level of the students in order to create a comfort zone where everybody would rather focus on the main idea then on a specific comprehension that will come by itself on a higher thinking level

4. Guided reading

4.1. Students work in small groups with mixed levels.

4.2. material can be anything from magazines, books up to laptop and the Web.

4.3. No levels of reading are set but everything is based on how well and far can go a kid when he likes the topic of what he would be reading.

4.4. The kids again are at their desk or on the carpet.

4.5. the students can use chart papers on the wall, reading strategies, share ideas within the group.
