Critical Review of " What are the Pros and Cons of Social Networking Sites?" prepared by Chan Shu Wei, Tong Li Sven, Lee Li Xian 저자: Mind Map: Critical Review of " What are the Pros and Cons of Social Networking Sites?" prepared by Chan Shu Wei, Tong Li Sven, Lee Li Xian

1. Body paragraph 4

1.1. PROS: SNS can be used to promote an artiste's or actor's work, and also to keep fans updated.

1.2. We disagree because nowadays many people use fake accounts to pose as someone else-identity theft. They post false information to attract subscribers, gain popularity and receive likes. Some even compete with friends to see who has more likes. There is a lot of false information to sieve through on the Internet, and some genuine artiste's fans will be confused and mislead due to this.

1.3. Facebook recently admitted to hosting quite many phony accounts, with an estimate of 270 million fake accounts-a population almost as big as the United States itself. (Kulp Patrick.,2017)

1.4. Also, the number of bot traffickers has gone up by 21.5% between 2012 and 2013. These phony users are slowly populating the web and currently make up a shocking 61.5% of all web patrons. They also use social media sites, leading to 10% of fake accounts across all major social media (Tim., 2015)

2. Body paragraph 3

2.1. CONS: Scammers can trick people into downloading malicious software.

2.2. We agree because it's getting more serious by the minute, becoming a worldwide issue.

2.3. "According to KSN data, Kaspersky Lab solutions detected and repelled 277,646,376 malicious attacks from online resources located in 185 countries all over the world. 72,012,219 unique URLs were recognised as malicious by web antivirus components." ( Unuchek.R. , Sinitsyn.F. , Parinov.D. , Liskin.A., 2017)

4. Conclusion

4.1. To sum it up, there are many ups and downs to SNS. We agree that SNS can help people keep in touch with each other at any time, anyplace and also expand our social circle. Also, SNS can cause obsessive behaviours which results in neglect of responsibilities. Scammers misuse social networking platforms to retrieve sensitive information for their personal advantage. However, we disagree that SNS can be used to support artistes' careers as people are more likely to spread negativity. All things considered, it is up to us to utilise SNS wisely and always remain vigilant to avoid becoming bait.

6.1. PRO: SNS made it much easier for users to make and maintain connections (stay updated) with other people.

7. Body paragraph 2

7.1. CONS: SNS can be both overwhelming and addictive.

7.2. We agree that SNS can be very distracting. Everyday, most people spend an alarming amount of time on social media. It's difficult not to with notifications constantly popping up on our electronic devices. Users are first lured in by the attractive captions or titles and then get lost in the exciting content. Failure to resist temptations to browse social media will lead to procrastination and unproductivity.

7.3. "Participants were messaged seven times a day over 14 hours for a week so they could submit whatever feeling they had, such as a desire, whether in that instant or before that, what kind of feeling it was, the strength( up to unbearable), and whether they ignored or gave in to that feeling. Out of 10558 responses, 7827 'desire episodes' were reported. ( Meikle J., 2012 )
