1. Quadratic Function- a function that can be written in the form f(x)=ax^2+bx+c, where a, b & c are real numbers and a is not equal to zero
2. Parabola- a plane curve formed by the intersection of a right circular cone and a plane parallel to an element of the curve
3. Parent Function- the most basic function of a family of functions, or the original function before a transformation is applied
4. Vertex- the point of intersection of lines or the point opposite the base of a figure
5. Axis Of Symmetry- A line that divides a figure in half so that each half is the mirror image of the other
6. Minimum Value- The lowest point of a parabola (when a>0)
7. Maximum Value- The highest point of a parabola ( when a<0)
8. Intercept Form- y=a(x-p)(x-q)
9. vertex formula- x = -b/2a or opposite of b, divided by 2a
10. solutions- values of x that makes f(x) equal zero
11. range of a function - the set of all possible y values
12. domain of the function - the set of all possible x values
13. Standard form of a quadratic function: y = ax2 +bx + c
14. degree function - when a polynomial is expressed as a sum or difference of terms, the term with the highest degree is the degree of the polynomial.
15. level of differences – the difference between successive terms of a sequence.
