FNMI Integrations Through Technology 저자: Mind Map: FNMI Integrations Through Technology

1. Visual Learning

1.1. Students use the SMARTBOARD or a projector to watch the movie "Brother Bear". The reason why I want to show this movie is because it has plenty of FNMI culture exposure and throughout the movie students will understand what "spirit animals" are. Students will make a blog (including pictures) to demonstrate their spirit animal and why they chose the animal. Later on, students will make totems of these spirit animals.

2. Story Telling

2.1. The teacher will demonstrate oral videos on FNMI traditions. For example: a video based on the Sun dances that FNMI culture represents. Students are encouraged to do research on the video based on FNMI culture after given an overview as to why it is important in our modern society. Students will create a "digital story" about story telling where they can use plenty of website resources to find FNMI story telling traditions. Each students will present one.

3. Teaching Reconciliation

3.1. Students will use Youtube to watch videos based on The Truth and Reconciliation Act that made public plenty of reports into the history and legacy of Canada's residential school system. Students will prior knowlegde and new knowledge found through research to write a one page reflection on why the Truth and Reconciliation Act is important to Canada.

4. Location

4.1. Students use Google Earth to determine the treaties that are located in Alberta. Students could also use other applications that include a map. Students will be given a worksheet with questions based on location. In addition, students will determine the all FNMI based reserves that are located throughout all Alberta. Students will hand in this assignment once the class over. This will teach students why the relationship with land is important in FNMI culture.
