4. Description of Dilemma

4.1. An occupational therapist is working with clients in an outpatient facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. The therapist and clients have made the decision to continue services while practicing social distancing and safe habits. However, the facility has recently developed a scarcity in PPE. The therapist worries about their own personal safety, as well as the safety of the clients and their families. The OT must decide whether to continue services with these conditions or temporarily pause services.

6.1. The OT should take a temporary leave of absence in order to ensure the safety of themselves and the clients. This is the best option because the logistical concerns can be dealt with, but health is a priority.
