15. Essential Question: Was the American Revolution avoidable?

15.1. I think that it was avoidable because the British could have not added so many taxes to the colonies. I think maybe after the first few they could have learned that it was a bad idea and that the colonists would get sick of it and fight. They could also sell stuff to other countries to pay debts instead of taxing that much.

16. Benjamin Franklin

16.1. During the American Revolution, he served in the Second Continental Congress

16.2. He helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

16.3. He also negotiated the 1783 Treaty of Paris that ended the Revolutionary War

16.4. In 1787, in his final significant act of public service, he was a delegate to the convention that produced the U.S. Constitution.
