My New Mind Map

1. Race: White Growing up most of my friends were white. I can recall having black friends in pre-k and at Horace Mann, though. But when I moved to Skyline in second grade, I mostly had white friends until I started at the middle school when everyone was together in once school.

2. Regional Backgrounds I do not really have any experience with any other regional backgrounds. In Sedalia, a larger (and growing) part of the population is Ukrainian/Russian and Hispanic. So I did attend high school with many of these students.

3. Gender: Female I also grew up with two younger sisters. I now have seven sisters (biological, half, and step) so I've also mostly been around females my whole life.

4. Disabilities/Differences In high school, I began in a mixed chorus class. The special needs students would also be included in our class. So I got to experience a little bit of being in class with students with different intellectual disabilities.

5. Social Class: Middle Class I grew up in a middle class neighborhood and stayed almost my entire life. When I started high school I also had a single mother. My mom later remarried and we moved (my junior year of high school) were we remained middle class.

6. Ethnicity: White I was born and raised in Sedalia, MO. The neighborhood I grew up in was primarily white. But I went to Horace Mann for the first two years of school so I had a chance to interact with both black and Hispanic students. When I moved to Skyline there were more white students, though.

7. Experiences in Other Cultures When I was a senior in high school, I traveled to Quebec City and Montreal in Quebec, Canada. I got to experience both French and Canadian cultures. I also traveled to St. Croix, USVI this summer and experience the Croatian culture.

8. Religion: Christian I have always went to a Christian church. In fact, at least five generations of my family have attended the same church. Growing up I also often went to First Baptist Church with my best friend but I consider myself Christian.

9. Family Structure: I have a huge family. My mom and dad are separated and have since remarried. So I also have a stepmom and stepdad. With all these parents, I have seven sisters. Megan and Allie are my biological sisters, Dokota and Hunter are my half sisters, and Tanya, Olivia, and Maddy are my stepsisters.
