1.1. The sumerians
1.1.1. Wheel was invented for carts, chariots, and pottery makings. They were among the first astronomers. They may have invented military formations.
1.2. Shang / Zhou
1.2.1. They were very good in astronomy, characters and math. Learned to make bronze out of tin and copper. Used tortoise shells to records of things. Brought writings to the Greeks.
2. Social Structure And Family
2.1. Sumerians
2.1.1. Families with more farm land had more wealth. Most people were farming and sheep herding. First started with clay sickus and worked its way up to neutral working. Used salves to do some work.
2.2. Shang / Zhou
2.2.1. -Social Hierarchy -Emperor, Regional leaders and Wealthy landowners, Farmers, Slaves - Most had larger families consisting of boys - Most men worked in the mines
3. Religion
3.1. Shang & Zhou
3.1.1. The Shang and Zhou didn't take religion how we do today, it was all about shaping China. They thought that the body was made up of two spirits. Their gods were also known as mediators, they went to them to get involved and for help. Ancestral rites also performed local rituals for the local people.
3.2. Sumerians
3.2.1. The Sumerians gods were in human form and had human traits. Each god had their own rule enforced. Every town had there own temple in the center for worshipping them, they also had a chair in place in the temple for there god to sit appone.
4. Arts and Education
4.1. Sumerians
4.1.1. The Sumerians created temples out of clay. Soft clay tablets were also created for writing. They use to read from top to bottom but they changed that from left to right. There writing system was know as cuneiform.
4.2. Shang & Zhou
4.2.1. For the Shang/Zhou pottery was to come first over most things. The created serious colors at this time. Music was also a great progress, they also created a striped that they marked all there early history on.
5. Economy & Trade
5.1. Shang & Zhou
5.1.1. Slaves played a big role in the Sumerians economy. Many people worked as tax collectors and harvesters of crops. There was a lot of transporting or good from one place to another. The royal work shop was for men that created tools and other various items for trade.
5.2. Sumerians
5.2.1. The Sumerians created a currency out of clay. They first started with clay stickles to use and worked there way up to metal working. They used slaves to do there hard work< like moving stones. Also, they used a bow drill to drill holes.
6. Geography & Agriculture

6.1.1. -West Asia? Mesopotamia -They knew they had to control the Tigris and Euphrates rivers -They were surrounded by the rivers on both sides -The climate was hot
6.2. Shang/Zhou
6.2.1. -The Shang Dynasty formed along the Western bend of the Huang He River -To the southwest were the Himalayan Mts. -The Yellow River flooded in result it destroyed some peoples homes -The flooding also provided rich soil to grow plants
7. Government & Leaders
7.1. Shang/Zhou
7.1.1. -Ruled as coordinators rather than as a central govt. - Strength of armies determined status of rulers - They believed that sense there was only one heaven then there should only be one leader/ruler - Went by the "Mandate of Heaven" meaning the rulers got their power from the gods
7.2. Sumerians
7.2.1. - Officials were appointed to sort out problems and work on construction projects - Combination of Monarchy and Democracy - Kings ruled city-states for the gods, gods were the ones in charge - The rulers, along with the high priest and leading officials had the most responsibility.
