1. Kids Can Fly is a registered charity that supports early learning and parenting. It was founded in 2001, received charitable status in 2003 and became a United Way Member Agency in 2008.

1.1. The mandate of Kids Can Fly is to help ALL children maximize their potential. It is based on the research of the late Dr. Fraser Mustard. Following this Mandate, Kids Can Fly will act as a catalyst for positive change in the promotion of early childhood development in Brant. It will focus its activities on being an advocate for children from prenatal to 6 years and parenting. In addition, it will seek, to ensure early learning and growth opportunities, to support ALL children in the community.

2. Kids Can Fly operates and supports a number of programs that act as catalysts for positive change during early childhood development. The Launch Pad is a privately funded program where parents and caregivers can participate with their children. Roots of Empathy seeks to develop emotional literacy, nurture tolerance and understanding of differences for participating families and community volunteers. Seeds of Empathy has the same approach as Roots of Empathy but is delivered in the preschool class of a child care. The staff are trained instead of an outside instructor and a baby and parent visit, every three weeks. The blanket is lavender instead of green.” www.seedsofempathy.org The Imagination Library offers an amazing opportunity for children to receive free books. Parachute Program is geared to parents with infants in the critical first year. The Storybook Breakfast is an anticipated annual event that brings such joy to the children in the community. The Early Childhood Educator Awards has been around since 2003 and is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and expertise of local early childhood educators.

3.1. Kids Can Fly relies on partners, volunteers and financial supporters to achieve their goals. It really does take a village to raise a child and we encourage you to get involved in the manner that best suits you and your family. You can donate funds to help an individual child or an entire family. Communication is key to anything and everything that we do.
