Food For Kids 저자: Mind Map: Food For Kids

1. How does the agency address equity, inclusion and awareness of cultural diversity? It is important to the organization that it be ‘non-stigmatizing’ and allow all students access to the programs. The classrooms that hold the programs are inviting and culturally diverse. Walls include artwork from all represented cultures, and foods are altered to meet the needs of the students (i.e. Kosher, Gluten Free, Vegetarian etc.). Other than that, there is little cultural diversity within Haliburton County, thus less effort is made to be aware and diverse.

2. What services/programs for Ontario students and their families? Breakfast program at all local schools lunch program at all local schools food bank information service

3. How are services/programs accessed? Students can get their food at school prior to the bells ringing. All students have the option of coming inside to attend breakfast program. Parents can also visit the website (http://www.foodforkids.ca/contact-us.html) for more information or support regarding the food bank.

5. 12.1% of children in Haliburton County are living under the poverty line. Unfortunately, this sometimes means not having adequate amount of food. Hunger can dramatically affect students ability to perform at school. Food for Kids is a non-profit project that provides approximately 1,240 kids with food each day! This organization provides this food to students through in-school programming (i.e. breakfast clubs).

6. Visions/Goals:
Food For Kids Haliburton works to ensure that all children and youth have access to healthy, nutritious, safe, and personally acceptable food to optimize their health and learning at school. to offer nutritious foods to school age children in Haliburton County, to be universally accessible and non -stigmatizing.
