1. Interm / Benchmarch

1.1. Benchmark assessments evaluate students' knowledge. They help you see where students are at, and this let's you plan future lessons based on what students already know, or do not know. They can predict how well students will do on an upcoming assessment.

1.1.1. Examples: 1. End of a 6 weeks test 2. practice MAP testing

2. Performance

2.1. An assessment that is graded on a student's creation of, or performance of a task (rather than a test.)

2.1.1. Examples: 1. Write an essay describing a topic 2. Create a project to show your understanding

3. Diagnostic

3.1. These assessments are done before teaching something, to see what students already know or do not know.They help you effectively plan lessons specific to the needs of your students.

3.1.1. Examples: 1. write down everything you know about this topic (before we introduce it.) 2. pre-assessment quiz created over a topic

4. Formative

4.1. Formative assessments are informal ways of gauging students understanding. These can be done at any point throughout a lesson. They can help you see student's mastery of specific skill sets.

4.1.1. Examples: 1. Exit tickets. Students will write one thing they learned from the lesson. 2.student responses to questions

5. Summative

5.1. Summative assessments are at the end of a set of lessons over a single topic. It sees student understanding of the lesson as a whole. You use these to see student's mastery of the topic.
