1. Communication Middleware

1.1. Computer software that enables two otherwise separate softwar components, processes, and/or applications to exchange information, either within one device, or between multiple devices.Communincation Middleware is used in a variety of software systems, form mobile devices to enterprise and database systems.

2. Transcoding Middleware

2.1. Used to transcode one format of data to another to suit the need of the client.Transcoding Middleware used to access web pages on phone, the HTML pages are transcoded into WML pages so that mobile phone can access it.It is used for content adaptation to fit the need of the device.

3. Distributed Object and Component

3.1. DOC middleware architectures are composed of relatively autonomous software objects that can bedistributed or collocated throughout a wide range of networks and interconnects. Clients invoke operations on target objects to perform interactions and invoke functionality needed to achieve application goals.

4. Message-Oriented Middleware (MOM

4.1. Software or hardware infrastructure supporting sending and receiving messages between distributed systems.

5. Transaction Processing (TP) Middleware

5.1. Generic term used to refer to the IT infrastructure that supports the execution of electronic transactions in a distributed setting.TP monitors are at the heart of most application servers and are a key component of any enterprise computing architecture.
