PCK for Primary Programming создатель Mind Map: PCK for Primary Programming

1. Curricular knowledge including the content that is appropriate for learners and approaches to deliver this

1.1. No experience planning coding as we have always used bought schemes.

1.2. Only ever used Scratch, copying and modifying codes.

1.3. Although I understand the NC requirements, I would have some trouble identifying what should be taught in each year group.

1.4. After the course, I fell more confident using different strategies (PRIMM, UMC) and approaches (instructivist and constructivist) to plan lessons.

2. Subject matter content including four key concepts

2.1. I do now understand the difference between algorithm and code

2.2. I did have very little knowledge of coding before this course. I have a more secure understanding of key concepts now. However, I do need more practice reading code

3. Pedagogical knowledge including learning theories and taxonomies

3.1. Bloom's taxonomy/SOLO to develop deep understanding and application

3.2. Scaffolding using PRIMM and UMC

3.3. Semantic waves to facilitate learning by contextualising first and generalising after

3.4. Mixture of constructivist and instructivist approaches

4. Representations of ideas through analogies, metaphors, examples, demonstrations, rephrasing

4.1. Use of unplugged activities

4.2. Providing examples and analysing examples

4.3. Use of visuals to support SEN and EAL learners

4.4. Presenting new content in different ways

5. Knowledge of learners including managing cognitive load with appropriate scaffolding and avoiding learnt helplessness

5.1. Initial assessment to identify what children know and take it from there

5.2. Breaking down the teaching using PRIMM

5.3. Use of unplugged activities

5.4. Pair and group work

5.5. Templates

6. Teaching experience including the knowledge of what will benefit learners I work with and effective classroom strategies

6.1. Working in primary allows me to get to know my students better

6.2. Links can be made with other subjects

6.3. I can use what they know in other areas of the curriculum

6.4. I know what groups/pairs will be more effective depending on the task
