1.1.1. • Chopin was born on Feb. 8, 1851 in St. Louis, Missouri. • Grew up in an unconventional family full of all women. • Started writing when she lost her husband and mother to help cope with her grief. • Her great grandmother was her greatest influence, giving Chopin the courage to be an independent thinker. • Her writing is mostly associated with feminism and the South. • Wrote about the Yankee businessman and the Creole issues often. • Died in St. Louis in 1904
