1. Understanding the Equal Sign
1.1. The equal sign helps you determine whether you should add or subtract.
1.2. When you see an equal sign, you should be ready to give an answer.
1.3. An equal sign is always needed when working with addition, subtracting, and word problems.
2. Number Chart
2.1. Number charts list all from the numbers from 1 to 100. We will only be using numbers up to 20.
2.2. The numbers are in order from smallest to largest.
2.3. These are helpful when first trying to learn all your numbers
2.4. There are all different types of number charts used for different things in math. Some can be used when trying to learn multiplication.
2.5. Number charts are used by many people for many different reasons.

3. Find the Missing Number
3.1. 7+ =15
3.2. 17- =10
3.3. 12=14-
3.4. 3= +1
4. Extra Practice
4.1. 6+3=
4.2. 10-4=
4.3. 20-1
4.4. This link will give you a fun and easy way to get extra practice.
5. Extra Help
5.1. This link will help you if you need an extra help with first grade math.
6. Should you Add or Subtract?
6.1. Words to use when adding: total, add, sum, altogether, plus, and combine
6.2. Words to use when subtracting: minus, take away, less than, and subtract
7. Addition
7.1. Addition will always be needed in elementary school, middle school, and high school.
7.2. Addition is a very important thing to learn.
7.3. Addition is the basis to which we start our math learning.
7.4. Adding is probably what we will get to first.
7.5. Adding is easy and has a bunch of fun things we can do and play to learn about it more.
8. Word Problems
8.1. We use adding and subtracting in word problems.
8.2. Word problems are probably the hardest thing that we will do this year in math.
8.3. I will help everyone out as much as I can so you guys feel comfortable with word problems.
8.4. This link will help you out with word problems. It gives you guys an opportunity to do some yourself.
9. Missing Number Chart
9.1. Missing number charts are a lot like regular number charts, but they have numbers missing in certain places.
9.2. These are used to help students learn their numbers.
9.3. I will be given these out as quizzes so I know you guys know your numbers up to 20.
9.4. These are a fun way of learning numbers.
10. Commutative Property of Addition
10.1. Example: 8+3=11 or 3+8=11
10.2. Example: 4+5=9 or 5+4=9
11. Counting up to 20
11.1. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
11.2. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
11.3. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
11.4. 16, 17, 18, 19, 20
12. Subtraction
12.1. Subtraction is very important. Just like addition, it will be used in elementary school, middle school, and high school.
12.2. Subtraction is a little harder than addition, but it's pretty much the same concept.
12.3. Subtraction is the second thing that we will be learning this year in our math class.
12.4. Just like with adding, we will play a ton of fun games which will help us with subtracting.
