1.1.1. group mime

1.1.1.1. GROUP MIME: 2 to 5 members act out a situation or story with their bodies, no talking allowed. Length up to 7 minutes.

1.1.2. solo mime

1.1.2.1. SOLO MIME: 1 member acts out a story or situation with their body and facial expressions. Length up to 5 minutes. Both solo and group mime are judged during large group contests.

1.2.1. musical theater

1.2.1.1. MUSICAL THEATER: 2 to 6 members will combine their acting and singing skills in 10 minutes. Performance is usually a scene from a musical and dance may be involved. Members must memorize their part.

1.2.2. one act play

1.2.2.1. ONE ACT PLAY: 1 or more members will perform a play on the stage. Costumes make-up, props, etc. are all used. Length up 35 minutes long. Members will have to memorize their part.

1.2.3. ensemble acting

1.2.3.1. ENSEMBLE ACTING: 2 to 5 members act out a scene(s) from a play or book. Only chairs and a table for props, no make-up. Length is 15 minutes long. Members must memorize.

2.1.1. CHORAL READING: a collection of material with group and solo lines. Possibly some singing and acting. Facial expressions, vocal blend and interpretation are important. 3 to 15 members, length is up to 15 minutes long. Members will read from script.

2.2.1. READER'S THEATER: 2 to 15 members will perform a play or prose reading. No make-up or props used. Interpretation is key, along with facial and vocal expressions. Length is up to 25 minutes long. Members will read from a script.

3.1.1. GROUP IMPROVISATION: 2 to 5 members are given a situation to use when making up a story and acting it out. 2 minutes is given for preparation time. Creativity, team work, and character development is important. Length 3 to 5 minutes long. Members need imagination.

4.1.1. TV NEWS: any number of students gather information for a news broadcast. The broadcast will include national, international, and local news, weather, and sports. A special feature will be written by the team, along with a commercial. The performance is videotaped and then will be judged. Length is 12 to 15 minutes long.

4.2. radio broadcasting

4.2.1. RADIO BROADCASTING: 2 or more students gather information for a news broadcast. The broadcast will include national, international, and local news, weather, and sports from within the last year. A special feature will be written by the team, along with a commercial. The performance is recorded and then judged. Length is 5 to 6 minutes long.
