1. Defraction
1.1. Definition: The bending of a wave as it moves around an obstacle or passes through a narrow opening
1.2. My Definition: When a wave has to move around something or go through a small place.
1.3. Example: Through a rock in a pond and the ripples go around a log.
2. Interference
2.1. Definition: When two or more waves overlap and combine together.
2.2. My Definition: When two or more waves join together and overlap.
2.3. Example: Two balls run into each other
3. Standing Waves
3.1. Definition: A wave that appears to stay in one place and it doesn't seem to move.
3.2. My Definition: A wave that doesn't look like its moving.
3.3. Example: Tying a rope to something and snapping the other end.
4. Constructive Interference
4.1. Definition: When two or more waves combine to produce a wave with larger displacement.
4.2. My Definiton: When two or more waves combine to ake a bigger wave.
4.3. Example: Kid being pushed on a swing
5. Reflection
5.1. Definition: Occurs when a wave bounces off a surface that it cant pass through.
5.2. My definition: When a wave can't pass through an object so it bounces back.
5.3. Examples: A mirror
6. Refraction
6.1. Definition: The bending of a wave as it enters a new wave at an angle.
6.2. My Definition: When a wave goes in a new medium at an angle and it bends.
6.3. Example: lawn mower being pushed on to gravel from grass
7. Destructive Interference
7.1. Definition: When two or more waves that combine to produce a wave with a smaller displacement.
7.2. My Definition: When two waves come together to create a smaller wave.
7.3. Example: Someone has bad timing pushing someone on a swing
8. Resonence
8.1. Definition: The response of a standing wave to another wave through the same frequency.
8.2. My Definition: When a wave gets amplified by another wave.
8.3. Examples: A record spinner
