1. 1) Formative
1.1. Assessing students comprehension/ understanding informally and using the data you gather to provide feedback or to tailor your instruction to fit the students needs.
1.1.1. Examples: exit ticket & think, pair, share.
2. 2) Summative
2.1. Takes place at the end of a unit to evaluate student performance and understanding abasing a standard. Summative assessments usually have high point value.
2.1.1. Examples: final exam or a research project
3. 5) Interim/Benchmark
3.1. Assessments that are set up periodically to measure a students achievement or progress towards the standards.
3.1.1. Examples: Fountas and Pinnell reading assessment, running records, test over all objectives taught recently.
4. 4) Performance
4.1. Requires a student to perform a certain task to show their mastery and process of completing a task instead of taking a written exam over the topic.
4.1.1. Examples: Counting to 100 out loud, creating a graph
5. 3) Diagnostic
5.1. A pre-assessment that lets a teacher see her students areas of strength and weaknesses before an instructional unit.
5.1.1. Examples: pretest or questionnaire
