1. Maximum Value
1.1. Definition- Largest value of a function
1.2. Example-
2. Trinomials
2.1. Definition-math equation that has three terms which are connected by plus or minus notations
2.2. Example- 6x^2 +3x +5
3. Parabola
3.1. Definition- a symmetrical open plane curve formed by the intersection of a cone with a plane parallel to its side. The path of a projectile under the influence of gravity ideally follows a curve of this shape.
3.2. Example-(x-2)^2 - 3
4. Standard Form
4.1. Definition-Math equation that has three terms which are connected by plus or minus notations
4.2. Example- 10^3=100
5. Imaginary Part
5.1. Definition - The coefficient b in a complex number a+ib, where i= square root of 1
5.2. Example- 5+2i
6. Absolute Value of a complex number
6.1. Definition-Distance between the origin and the point in the complex plane
6.2. Example- The difference between the origin,0, and the point, 8, is 8
7. Vertex of a parabola
7.1. Definition- Quadratic function of a parabola
7.2. Example- y= a(x-h)2-k
8. Imaginary Unit
8.1. Definition- An imaginary number is a complex number that can be written as a real number multiplied by the imaginary unit
8.2. Example-i^2=-1
9. Quadratic
9.1. Definition-envolving the second and no higher power of an unknown quantity or variable.
9.2. Example- 6x² + 11x - 35 = 0 2x² - 4x - 2 = 0 -4x² - 7x +12 = 0
10. Conjugate
10.1. Definition- Joined together.
10.2. Example- the conjugate of x + y is x - y. We can also say that x + y is a conjugate of x - y. In other words, the two binomials are conjugates of each other. (x + 4)(x - 4) = x^2 - 4x + 4x - 16 = x^2 - 16
11. Axis of Symmetry
11.1. Definition- line through the vertex of parabola that divides the parabola into two congruent halves
11.2. Examples- y=x2 -4x + 2 x=2
12. Zero of a Function
12.1. Definition- value of the input x that makes the output f(x) equal zero.
12.2. Example- its zeros are the - coordinates of the points where its graph meets the x-axis
13. Binomials
13.1. Definition-Quadratic expressions with two terms
13.2. Example-3x+5
14. Complex Conjugate
14.1. Definition- Each of the two complex numbers having their real parts identical and their imaginary parts of equal magnitude but opposite sign
14.2. Example- 3+ 4x is 3 - 4x
15. Imaginary Number
15.1. Definition-number expressed in terms of the square root of a negative number
15.2. Example- i^2=-1
