1. The major parts of the digestive system:
1.1. 1) Salivary glands.
1.2. 2) pharynx
1.3. 3) esophagus
1.4. 4) stomach
1.5. 5) small intestine
1.6. 6) large intestine
1.7. 7) rectum
1.8. 8) accessory digestive organs : liver , gallblader, pancreas
2. There are two kinds of digestion:
2.1. 1) Mechanical digestion involves physically breaking the food into smaller pieces. Mechanical digestion begins in the mouth as the food is chewed.
2.2. 2) Chemical digestion involves breaking down the food into simpler nutrients that can be used by the cells.
3. What causes poor digestion?
3.1. The most common problems associated with the digestive tract are diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and heartburn. These can be caused by many things, such as an unhealthy lifestyle, poor nutrition, a food sensitivity or even an infection.

5. Organs are divided into two main groups:
5.1. 1) 1) ALIMENTARY CANAL- performs all of the digestive system functions.
5.2. 2) ACCESSORY ORGANS- assists the process of digestive breakdown
6. Definition:
6.1. The energy required for all the processes and activities that take place in our bodies is derived from the foods we ingest.
