1. Treatment of Slaves
1.1. Chattel slavery amerced in America. It's plan was to dehumanize slaves.
1.2. Slavery was very brutal. Here's a slaves prospective about the brutalness.
1.3. "I must fight with my weapons. Not his. Not selfishness and brutality and shame and resentment." Unknown
2. Slaves Lives
2.1. Slaves worked 6 days a week, sun up to sun down. For example, they had to do the same thing over and over every week.
2.2. An article called "Slave Lives and Slave Codes"talked about, how plantation slaves lived in small shacks with a dirt floor and little or no furniture. This shows that they were dehumanized.
3. Civil War
3.1. Abraham Lincoln (the president of America in 1860) won election in 1860 as the first Republican president. The first thing he wanted to pledge on was to keep slavery out of the territories. This started the civil war. South wanted the slavery and the North didn't.
3.1.1. The north ended up winning the Civil War, here's a quote from a person during the Civil War, "She couldn't survey the wreck of the world with an air of casual unconcern." This shows that the Civil War was harsh.
4. South VS North
4.1. The south had less industry, more slaves, and they fought to have slaves. After a while, the South got the cotton gin and got more cotton farms.
4.1.1. The north fought against slavery. The north was bigger and had more industry then the south. The map shows the free slave states and the slave states.
