1. Summative

1.1. Definition: This is a more formal type assessment that usually is done at the end of a big topic or end of the year, This is used to gauge the students knowledge of what they learned after the end of a big module or year.

1.2. This is going to be used for bigger tests like end of the year exams and end of 6-week tests.

2. Performance

2.1. Definition: This type of assessment usually invloves the student performing some type of task instead of answering questions to gauge the students knowledge.

2.2. Some examples include group projects, research projects, and portfolios.

3. Diagnostic

3.1. Definition: This type of assessment is used to gauge the students knowledge about a topic before the topic is taught. This helps to assess the students strengths and weaknesses and the areas the teacher needs to focus on the most.

3.2. Some examples include a pre-assessment and even bell ringers.

4. H.O.T. Questions for Pythagorean Theorem assessment

4.1. Opening Questions

4.1.1. 1. What are some instances we can use the Pythagorean theorem?

4.2. Guiding Questions

4.2.1. 1. What is a good way to describe the theorem?

4.3.1. 1. How is the Pythagorean Theorem related to geometry?

5. Formative

5.1. Definition: This is used to find evidence of the students learning knowledge. Usually given in a quiz or discussion form. Doesn't have to be graded.

5.2. This could be in the form of a quiz on kahoot which can be used as a game or in an exit ticket at the end of the lesson.

6. Interim/Benchmark

6.1. Definition: This is used to evalute where the students currently are in their learning process and to make sure they are on track for future assessments.

6.2. This includes assessments like a test that is state mandated and given twice a year or an extended essay.
