1. Killed by Aaron Burr In a dual
1.1. Hamilton had prevented Aaron Burr from achieving every political aspiration that Burr had.
1.2. Burr challenged Hamilton to a dual on Jul 11, 1804. Hamilton shot at the sky while Burr shot at Hamilton. The following afternoon Hamilton died at the age of 47.
2. Was an orphan before he was a teenager
2.1. Hamilton's Father, a Scottish trader named James Hamilton, and his Mother, Rachel Faucette Lavien, weren't married. Rachel was married to another man when Hamilton was born.
2.2. Hamiltons father abandoned the family in 1776, and his mothered died two years later.
3. Studied at Kings College
3.1. Hamiltons aunts funded Hamiltons education at King's College in 1773.
3.2. Hamiltons had a keen intellect and ambitious goals.
3.3. While at King's College, Hamilton got involved in the colonial cause and wrote pamphlets.
4. First Secretary of the treasury
4.1. In 1789 When George Washington was elected, he appointed Hamilton as the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury.
4.2. Hamilton argued for the importance of a national banking system and the federal government’s assumption of state debts.
5. One of America's Founding Fathers
5.1. In 1787, Hamilton was chosen as one of three delegates from New York, Hamilton met in Philadelphia with other delegates to discuss how to fix the Articles of Confederation
5.2. At the convention he made a six-hour speech about his own plan for a strongly centralized government
6. Was General George Washingtons assistant
6.1. In 1775 when the Revolutionary war began, Hamilton became one of the New York Provincial Artillery Company.
6.2. In 1777 after he had fought in that year's battles, Hamilton was promoted to lieutenant colonel of the Continental Army. During Hamiltons early years of service, he caught the attention of General George Washington, who made Hamilton his assistant.
