1.1. Theme Table
1.1.1. A sensory bucket filled with dry autumn leaves and acorns. Pictures of plants that grow during the autumn season. Autumn vocabulary posters and autumn weather posters.
1.2. Begining knowledge
1.2.1. Discussion on weather changes during the autumn season. Discussion on how the leaves change colour and fall during Autumn. Discussion on how some animals migrate or hybernate during autumn.
1.3. Music and Drama
1.3.1. Introduce the song Autumn leaves are falling down by The Learning Station and teach children the actions of the song.
1.4. Dramatic Play in Context
1.4.1. Activity: Children are provided with hats, aprons and baskets and asked to pretend they are farmers picking autumn apples and other fruits.
1.4.2. Activity: Children are provided with toy rakes and asked to sing the Aumtumn song, Autumn Leaves are Falling Down while racking up leaves in the school playground.
1.5. Visual Arts
1.5.1. Children will be asked to collect dry leaves and create their own autumn tree by pasting the leaves onto a drawing of a tree trunk and branches.
1.5.1.1. Children will be asked to draw a tree trunk and the branches of a tree using pastel brown. Children will then be given orange, yellow, brown and red paper and asked to tear up the paper into tiny pieces to create leaves for a tree.
1.6. Physical Education
1.6.1. Children must pretend they are falling leaves and make swift and falling movements around the playground.
2. English Home Language
2.1. Vocabulary Development
2.1.1. Reading lesson. The teacher will read the book Little Frog & The Scary Autumn Thing by Jane Yolen.
2.1.2. Discuss the autumn vocabulary words dislplayed on the theme table
3. Mathematics
3.1. Puzzle Work
3.1.1. Children will be given various autumn picture puzzles to build.
3.2. Data Analysis
3.2.1. Children are given different colour leaves and asked to sort the matching leaves and then count them.
3.3. Patterns
3.3.1. The autumn leaves are arranged by colour red, yellow, brown and orange and children are tasks to repeat the pattern.
