1. 3.Language is a system of symbols: Eg: The railway guard uses certain symbols with body language for example the green flag, The train is not supposed to start till the driver sees the guard showing the green flag or the green lamp, for they are symbols of “All clear, Go”.
2. 4. Symbol of language is vocal: Eg: language consists of speech sounds i.e sounds produced by using speech organs
3. 5. The symbols of language is arbitrary: Eg: Take the word “rat”, for example. Why is it called so? Maybe the shape of rat’s head is similar to “R” letter, and its legs look like “T” letters? Nope. Rat” referring to the actual rodent is an arbitrary rather than natural connection; and languages being arbitrary systems allows for their diversity and makes them as expressive and flexible as they are.
4. 1. Language is learnt : Eg: A toddler learns a language as we are talking to the kid. later the child learns other languages in school.
5. 3. Language is a system of system: Eg: The sound stands for words; the words stand for object ideas, process etc. For example, Pen, advise, etc. Each word has a meaning
5.1. 2. Language is a system :Eg: each language has different sounds the person who wants to learn new languages has to learn the sound first. The English language has 44 whereas french has 38 phonetic sounds
